Scope
Fly2Work, a Brisbane-based SaaS startup, addresses the frustrations and inefficiencies in booking and managing travel and accommodation for Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) workers in the energy, resources, and mining industries. The main challenges included overcomplicated systems, manual processes, a lack of intuitive tools, and high costs associated with traditional booking methods.
Process
My team was responsible for Fly2Work's complete brand development and design, including:
Designing the logo and brand kit.
Creating the user interface for the public website and desktop app, from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes.
Adapting a ‘mobile first’ design approach for desktop, conducting usability testing across two user groups.
Synthesising data and insights from usability tests and stakeholder workshops to inform design decisions.
Providing ongoing support and conducting presentations to stakeholders.
Solution
Working closely with product owners, I led the interface design process through iterative sprints, staying agile as the product evolved to meet market demand. The result was a simple, accessible, and intelligent travel management system that effectively serves both administrators and FIFO staff. Fly2Work has delivered significant cost savings for organisations and has since gone global, being adopted by major industry players such as BHP and Shell QGC.
