Redesigning safety: Enhancing usability and efficiency for mobile workforces.
Product Design for JMS Field User App | 2024 | Lead Product Designer

Project Info
Scope
JMS App is a critical tool for workforce safety monitoring, enabling mobile workforces and lone workers to safely track their journeys in real-time. The project required a complete UX/UI overhaul of the existing field user app to improve usability, modernise the design, and better align with user needs in the field. My task was to redesign the interface to create a more intuitive and accessible experience, ensuring that the app’s safety features were easily discoverable and streamlined for real-time use.
Process
The process began with a comprehensive assessment of the existing app, highlighting areas where usability challenges impacted field workers. I facilitated a 'Rose, Thorn, Bud' workshop with key stakeholders to identify strengths, pain points, and opportunities for improvement. This was followed by competitor research to benchmark industry standards and gather insights on how similar products were solving common user challenges. We also mapped the current user journey to fully understand how users interacted with the app in the field.
Due to time constraints, I moved directly into high-fidelity designs, skipping the wireframing phase. The initial designs are built to ensure clarity, ease of use, and alignment with the mobile workers’ real-world needs.
Solution
The first iteration is currently under internal review, and stakeholder feedback will drive the refinement process before moving into development.
